Pros and Cons of Running A PR Campaign With Childcare Products and Services

by EngageU

Major childcare brands dream of distributing their products and services to parents across the world. Big companies love to do interviews on major networks and have their name appear on the front page of renowned publications to enhance their reputation.

Public relations (PR) can hold many advantages for businesses, marketers, and consumers. Yet, there are also a few drawbacks when using PR to promote products and services to parents.

Advantages of Public Relations

Everyone knows that parents guard their children’s health and well-being above all else. When companies communicate openly to parents about the products and services they can provide, it allows the brand to build a relationship with the parent. Parents won’t invest time and money into something that they do not trust wholeheartedly.

A well-structured PR campaign can give parents more detailed information than they receive from other sources. It provides sufficient time to explain a product in detail.

If the campaign travels by word of mouth, the details of a product can’t spread rapidly through online channels such as social media.

Companies can achieve their objectives through a PR campaign at a very low cost compared to other forms of advertising that may have additional expenses.

Disadvantages of Public Relations

There are several risk factors that need to be considered before launching a PR campaign. As these relations are communicated cases across multiple channels such as radio, TV, magazines, and the Internet, it becomes almost impossible to control the distribution of accurate content to sensitive viewers and parents.

Several people need to be employed to ensure that parents and consumers get access to the right content. News media channels can run a credible story from a PR campaign if there is enough incentive, but there is always the risk of other news events, such as breaking news stories overriding the planned media coverage.

Companies always need to be aware of PR disasters and mistakes. This can occur when an advertisement causes offense to parents or the wider public, leading to a loss of sales and damaging a company’s reputation. Learn more about PR campaigns by following the latest news and articles on this site.
